ARGH WAT
In the five minutes I had the server on today, some little [word] LOGGED ON TO MY OWN SERVER AS ME and banned himself! (and by himself, I mean me)

This is why we have name verification. Or at least, we should have.

Yeah, a lot of people are taking their servers down until the NV server is back up.

On an unrelated note, I just found out that you can crouch with shift to avoid walking off ledges. :D

Yup, new feature. I can't use it yet cause when I tried to update it corrupted a jar file. Fortunately I had a backup of the previous version, so I was able to restore. I haven't tried to update again yet. I do have the version with compasses though. :D

Download the version off the website, since the server's down.

Also it's not crouching it's sneaking <.<

It's both. Notice how the view goes down a bit. I call that crouching. Notice how you don't make footstep noises. I call that sneaking.

When something smells, it's usually my monitor.

The update is out, and I guess the biggest feature is Sneaking. Press (and hold, for now) shift to move slower. You won’t make sounds, and you won’t crush plants, and you won’t fall off ledges.

Meh. I guess you could call it crouching too, like the MCwiki does.

YES. Now I can play again!

These new advancements inspire me to start a new game!

Worst idea ever! Self high-five!

YEAH!

Time to get bombed by creepers and such... :D

EDIT: And of course even my internet is too slow. D: Why world? Why did you have to popularize Minecraft?

What am I missing?

What do you mean? If you want to play the free version, it's down for the moment. If you want to not play in-browser, only the paid version is downloadable. If you want to choose between single and multiplayer, both versions do that. Could you please elaborate?

I took a look at the action in third-person view while playing, and I think sneaking is a more accurate idea after all. Your character's torso just bends forward a bit, instead of the legs doing anything crouch-like.
