Vague Feeling [Environmental, Easy]
« on: July 16, 2011, 00:34:30 »
This is an entry for the short time frame level competition.  It uses a modification of the tileset I made for White City ( http://nifflas.lpchip.nl/index.php?topic=4827.0 ) so enjoy this as a preview level of that tileset.  The  music is by a buddy of mine that I've been meaning to use for a while.  This is really not quite up to my story telling specks, but hey, it's short time frame.  Enjoy!

Playing it right now, looks and sounds really good, but you gotta be more careful with the wallswims caused by those ramps.

EDIT: Finished it. Liked it, but there are quite a few wallswims.

Nice well done level. Though on those rounded corners there was a stray pixel in the air.
Music was very weird but spiced things up a bit and anything is better then the default music.

I basically said "oh, I don't care" with the tall 3 cube high wall swim ramps because I didn't want to have to edit them in a way that would take away their visual effect.  If their are wall swims besides those, I'm unaware of it.  Stray pixel eh?  I'll have to look into that.

Wait...

What...

What did I just play?

:D

Great visuals and music (very weird, very much an experience rather than 'just a level'). Ending seemed random. Maybe I missed something?

I think the story is related to his soon to be released White City level which I had the pleasure of beta testing. If you liked this level, then you should keep an eye out for the other.

ya know ego, I didn't make the connection intentionally, but yes, I think it does relate to white city directly.  I was about to say it only relates with regards to the tileset, but I do think this does have a similar theme.

I'm a big believer in unconscious material of the variety Jung speaks of, where the unconscious talks to us using symbols and vague concepts.  My ambition in games like this one is to hint at a story in such a way as to draw the player into thinking in a meta way: a way which questions the nature of the questions.  Whether I accomplish this... meh.

Such seems to be the nature of this forum: full of stuff that attracts a certain crowed permanently.  Good to see you around Bulbapuck!
